In their final pre-district matchups, the Aransas Pass High School varsity Panthers secured wins, then opened their district with a victory as well to improve to 12-8 on the season, and 1-0 in district.

The Panthers traveled to Alice Tuesday, Dec, 11, and dominated the Coyotes, 77-39. They outscored the hosts 22-3 in the first and 29-18 in the second to take a 51-21 lead at halftime.

Aransas Pass edged Alice 12-11 in the third to hold a 63-32 lead. The Panthers took the last quarter 14-7 for the final margin of victory.

Panthers who scored are: Sam Chapman – 20; Jared Gentry – 18; James Crawford – 12; Shimon Crothers –nine; Howard Emerson – eight; Christian Leal – six; and Jonathan Trevino – four.

The Panther junior varsity team beat Alice, and the freshmen Panthers lost to the Coyotes.

Aransas Pass’ varsity traveled to San Antonio’s ATT Center to face Moulton Saturday, Dec. 15, and beat the Katz 72-42, in another dominating performance. The Panthers outscored Moulton 21-6 in the first quarter and 13-9 in the second to take a 34-15 lead at halftime
