The Aransas Pass High School varsity Panthers dominated the Mathis Pirates to improve to 8-1 in district play, and 21-11 on the season, with only three games left in the year.

The Panthers hosted Mathis Tuesday, Jan. 29, and handed them an 85-46 loss.

The Panthers overpowered the Pirates 16-0 in the first quarter. Their dominance continued in the second as they outscored Mathis 24-7 to lead 40-7 at halftime.

The second was a high scoring affair for both times, as AP edged the visitors 22-20 in the third. The Panthers led 6227 after three.
